Our Owlets have great fun exploring the areas of learning in our inviting and stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments with Mrs Phillips, class teacher, and Mrs Diggory, Teaching Assistant.
Their explorations will be recorded on our online platform, Seesaw, where you, as parents and carers, will be able to share in their learning journey by seeing photos and videos of what they do. We will also keep you up to date with our themes and activities, and all current information.
We are really keen for families to be involved with their child’s learning so invite you to participate by talking with your child about their day, showing enthusiasm for what they’ve done, communicating with your child’s class teacher, engaging in home learning activities, and of course, promoting a love of reading, stories and language, number play, mark making, curiosity and so on. at home. There will be various opportunities to attend sessions at school to find out more about how we teach things in school such as phonics and reading, to enable you to support in the best possible way.
At our Westcliffe Federation schools, from 2022, we have decided to adopt the Twinkl Systematic Synthetic Phonics Programme (SSP) which has been validated by the DfE. The scheme the Federation has been using over the last year has the fundamental principles of Twinkl phonics already underpinning it. Having the opportunity to adopt Twinkl SSP as our scheme will have huge benefits for the children and the staff.

We also run a Stay and Play group for children 0 – 5 years who are not yet in school, along with their parent/carer.
This takes place on Friday mornings 9.00am to 10.30am (during term time). £2.00 per child/£1.00 per sibling to include milk or water and a fruit snack for child/ren, and a hot drink for the carer. If this is relevant to you, or someone you know, please come along and enjoy some quality time with your child, playing and learning in our nursery setting, and meeting other families.
You would be made very welcome!
