Welcome to Owlets Class

Our Owlets have a wonderful time discovering the world around them in our warm, inviting, and stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments. Guided by Mrs Phillips (Class Teacher), Mrs Diggory (Nursery Assistant), and our dedicated team, the children explore, play, learn, and grow every day. We love to celebrate their achievements, and you can follow their learning journey through Seesaw, our online platform. Here you’ll be able to enjoy photos and videos of what your child has been doing, as well as keep up to date with our current themes, activities, and important information.

We believe strongly in working together with families, and we warmly encourage you to get involved in your child’s learning. This might include chatting with them about their day, showing interest and enthusiasm in their experiences, keeping in touch with their class teacher, enjoying home learning activities together, and nurturing a love of reading, stories, number play, mark making, curiosity, and more at home. Throughout the year, we will offer opportunities for you to attend sessions in school—such as phonics and reading workshops—to help you feel confident in supporting your child’s learning.

We are also delighted to offer a Stay and Play group for children aged 0–5 years who are not yet in school, along with their parent or carer. This friendly, welcoming group meets on Friday mornings from 9.00–10.30am during term time. If this applies to you, or someone you know, please do come along! It’s a lovely chance to spend quality time with your child, enjoy play and learning in our nursery setting, and meet other families. You will be made very welcome!

We follow a consistent daily routine so that the children are familiar with what to expect daily, whilst also ensuring that they are motivated and excited by the learning opportunities that we provide.

Each day begins with a varied range of independent activities for the children to engage with whilst we greet and settle our children. We then gather for our morning routine of songs, talk time and our planned adult-led input. The children then access our continuous provision with adult enhancements and can immerse themselves in learning both indoors and out. Our environment is carefully designed and resourced to provide opportunities for the children to practice and apply their skills independently whilst our enhancements allow us as adults to scaffold or challenge our focused learning.

Snack time is an important aspect of the morning when the children sit down to enjoy a range of healthy options including fruit, vegetables and toast, crumpets etc. with a drink of milk or water. We use the opportunity to sit down with the children to model and support with fine motor skills of pouring and cutting whilst also engaging in conversation to develop their communication and language skills as well as personal, social and emotional development and maths.
