At Kinnerley CE Primary School, the safety and welfare of every child is our highest priority. We believe all children have the right to feel safe, valued, and supported. Every member of staff—along with volunteers and governors—plays an active role in safeguarding pupils and protecting them from harm.

Our Commitment 

• All staff and governors receive regular Child Protection and Safeguarding training provided by Marches Academy Trust and/or the Local Authority. 

• Our Trust and school safeguarding policies are reviewed frequently, updated in line with the latest guidance from the SSCB (Shropshire Safeguarding Children Board) and the Department for Education (DfE). 

• We ensure safer recruitment by employing staff and volunteers who have undergone:  

• Safer Recruitment training (for staff involved in recruitment) 

• Enhanced DBS checks 

• Reference checks prior to appointment 

• External providers—including sports coaches and visiting specialists—are also fully vetted.

If you ever have concerns that a child is being harmed or may be at risk, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy Designated Lead immediately.
